Is being polite an obligation?

Hi everyone,
Today I will be touching on a very sensitive topic, I know most people will not agree with me but the most important thing is to bring this to your notice.
Life is already complicated why complicate it some more?
Let's get started...
Polite = having or showing behavior that is respectful or cultured. It is synonymous to well mannered, civil, gentlemanly, ladylike etc.
Now the opposite of polite is rude, impolite, savage etc.
Do not expect everyone to be polite, fact is being polite is a choice and not a necessity.
So in case you meet someone somewhere and you expect the person to be polite enough to probably welcome you but does not do it,you can be offended but do not let it bother you, unless the person is supposed to serve you and he or she is messing up....then you can tell that person off, other than that do not let someone's impolite nature get to you.
Let me give a scenario where you are carrying something heavy, an acquaintance sees you but refuses to lend a hand even though you asked for help and to make matters worse that acquaintance passes some rude comments, my friend you cannot take that person to court for that, save yourself from that stress and let it go. It will not be easy but it is possible to let it go, what you should know is that that person isn't obligated to be polite to you,
The long and short of what I am saying is that being polite isn't a necessity but a choice, do not let someone's impolite nature give you a sleepless night.
Thank you 😊
