A: A slave is a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond slave. (Dictionary.com).
Q: What is slavery?
A: The condition of a slave; bondage. (Dictionary.com).
I (Naa) am is asking who you think a slave is? (ponder over this and let's move on).
In simple terms, a slave is a person in bondage, that's my definition though. Slavery can be physical (just like the slave trade was) and mental. Mental slavery is the worst kind of slavery than can ever exist, but unfortunately it seems that is the new kind of slavery now.
Q: What is colonization?
A: It is an ongoing process by which a central system of power dominates the surrounding land and it components.(Wikipedia).
Now let me say this, slavery and colonization in the olden days was when a powerful government tends to rule over less powerful states in their own favour, hence they do whatever pleases them including taking them into bondage(slaves, slavery) in order to work for them under harsh conditions.
History has it that Africa, North and South America, Asia and Australia underwent some sort of slavery and colonization. But it seems like every other continent is doing well apart from Africa, and that is because Africa is under mental slavery and colonization.
Africa is made up of 54, yes 54 different and independent countries. Africa is rich in natural resources, African countries can be better than they are right now, if we will only acknowledge the fact that we are under mental slavery we will be able to kick that mentality away. We do not need to beg for anything, we are too BIG for that. We produce most raw materials that are sent to other countries for their development. Yes, we were once colonized and our resources were stolen from us, so was South and North America, Asia and Australia. Life handed them lemons and they chose to make lemonade, what about us? Life handed us lemons but we chose to throw them away because they were just too sour. We are the reasons why other countries look down on our continent, we are the reasons why our life seems to be threatened! No one is going to fight for us except ourselves, well, I am a proud Ghanaian, from Accra, my tribe is Ga and I will hit my chest and say my name is Naa Laryea, and some day, Africa as a continent will surprise the whole world.
So my question is, has Africa got an excuse?
